The age of innocence is back, way back in 80s & early 90s we were familiar with these kind of romantic movies, BETAAB being one of them ,very much on these lines is PAL PAL DIL KE PAAS but with a touch of modern day treatment, girl meets boy & they have those moments of altercations between them, ultimately leading them to closeness & then follows the PYAAR but ofcourse not complete without a villain
The first half of the film is a visual delight, for some might be a drag, for some a national geographic channel view & for rest a romantic nostalgia down the lane but all said & done here the full credit goes to the CINEMATOGRAPHER, viewing MANALI on a large canvas has never been better then this & also the concept of trekking was never really explored before in such a romantic manner in bollywood , CHEERS to MR SUNNY DEOL to come of as a winner on this
The second half then moves to the city & is more fast paced & has the typical commercial ingredients .... surprisingly & the good part is that we here have a family who supports their daughter for her choice & it's only the villain & his family who are the spoilsport but then as always GOOD WINS OVER BAD & ALL WELL THAT ENDS WELL
MUSIC is the USP of this film & it's picturisation is also commendable
SIMONE SINGH & SACHIN KHEDEKAR perform well as the girl's parents & in top act is the DADI played by DAISY IRANI, AAKASH AHUJA
in a negative role gives a positive perfomance
SAHHER BAMBBA in her debut is EXCELLENT & CONFIDENT
Shyness is the trait of the DEOL family & KARAN DEOL is no exception to this , be it his GRANDFATHER DHARAMJI or his FATHER SUNNY PAAJI or even his CHACHHAS BOBBY & ABHAY all have gone through this but then emerged as WINNERS & so shall KARAN, he as of now has an innocence charm which has been handled maturedly by his director father, his dialogue delivery might now look weak but like his father he needs one ARJUN to break the ice & then there shall be many a GHAYALs around & he could be a GHATAK to many of them, he is uncomfortable in his romantic scenes & also has two left feet when it comes to dancing but where it comes to their family tradition, the ACTION, he is all pumped up, no need of six packs , the power of fists & hand is good enough, few years down the line he'll be a much sought after action hero with intensity
And now for MR SUNNY DEOL & his DIRECTION, a tribute by a son to his father , a song he grew up on from his father's film BLACKMAIL " PAL PAL DIL KE PAAS TUM REHATI HO " & then makes a film on that line now as a father for his son, his debut, SUNNY PAAJI takes the onus all on himself & has definitely given his son one of the best launch, as a director his involvement & commitment in all departments of the making here shows & he EXCELS
PAL PAL DIL KE PAAS is a film made right from the heart & by one of the members of one of the large hearted family of INDIAN CINEMA
